This Job of Mine

Gosh I love this job of mine! It has been somewhat of an adjustment for me to be a stay-at-home mom and I will honestly tell you it is the hardest thing I've ever done, but at the end of each exhausting, jam-packed day I look at the lashes that dance across the lids of those beautiful girls eyes and I feel heaven. I feel it smiling down on me letting me know that the tantrums and the messes and the whining and the fighting and every little thing that makes me want to pull-my-hair-out and scream-at-the-top-of-my-lungs is part of this life and my opportunity for learning and growth as God teaches me patience. And boy am I learning them! Thankfully mixed in with all that hard character-building stuff is the beautiful moments I wouldn't trade for the world. The    colored pictures and the notes and giggly grins and hugs and kisses and cuddling and story time and my foot rub punch card and those moments when I really get to teach them something I think is important. Those are the moments I cherish and the ones I hope to remember and definitely the only ones I hope they remember :). I proofread a paper my brother-in-law wrote for school and there was a line in it that made me think. It said something along the lines of, "You can never be over-qualified to fulfill the role of a mom." Wow, I think that's powerful and so true.

Christmas in Germany

Christmas 2016 Bernkastel-Kues Christmas morning Our Christmas was a little different this year, or I guess a lot different because of being in a different country and far away from the family and friends we love. We celebrated about a week and a half early because Emily went to spend Christmas with her other family and Aaron had to work on Christmas. Emily left the day after the girls' last day of school, so when they came home from school we opened presents from each other and then by popular vote spent the rest of the night eating pizza and bowling at the bowling alley on base. The next day we woke up early to deliver Em to the airport. We were able to hit a couple of Christmas Markets in the beginning weeks of December with her and then we did a couple after she left. We thought it was kind of fun how each Christmas Market has their own mug that you can collect, so the collecting motivated Aaron a little more to hit multiple markets rather than to just stay ho...

6 Week Flu

SYMPTONS: FREQUENT VOMITING, EXCESSIVE FATIGUE, NAUSEA, LACK OF MOTIVATION SIDE EFFECTS: HOUSE TURNS INTO A PIG PEN, FAMILY MEMBERS WEAR DIRTY UNDERWEAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS, MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY ARE ACCUSED OF HAVING EATING DISORDERS FROM MALNUTRITION, YOUR BED & COUCH HAVE A PERMANENT INDENT, AND THE CARPET FROM HERE TO THE BATHROOM HAVE A WELL WORN PATH, PEOPLE THINK YOU HAVE FALLEN OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH My friend recently told me there's a chance she "might" be pregnant. When I asked what might meant, she told me it could just be the flu. I laughed at her until I started experiencing the same symptoms. Even after a positive pregnancy test I worried that it might be all in my head. Thank heavens for a trip to the doctor, he confirmed that: WE ARE HAVING BABY NUMBER 2 !!!!!! I apologize to any of you who have asked recently when we are having more kids or why I am sick, and I didn't give you a straight answer . . . well now you know!
