For all the Emily fans out there, I have to tell a funny thing I overheard her say. She was sent to clean her room one night before we went to Aaron's basketball game and wasn't making much progress. She kept asking me to help her, which essentially means do it for her. I told her no and that she was big enough to clean it up by herself. As I walked in the other room I heard her sit on the floor with a big sigh and say, "Who am I kidding? My mom is right, I am a pain!"

As a Bachelor of Integrated Studies major, I have been working on my Capstone project. What this means is I have to tie my three areas of study (Art, English, and Telecommunications) into one big final project. Since I hope to work for a magazine one day, I have decided to create a magazine spread on women who have overcome obstacles and are now working towards an education to help fulfill their dreams. I am writing the stories of 4 different women, photographing them, and creating a design layout for the spread. I'm really excited for the finished product, but I will be even more excited when it is finished. : ) I am in the process of interviewing the women, and what a rewarding experience it has been! There are some amazing people out there with some very inspiring stories. When I complete this project, I plan on submitting it to a couple of different magazines for publishing considerations. There's a little coffee shop down the street that I love, not for their coffee, but for their sandwiches, and after tonight their Shrimp Bisque soup. We had in mind some steak houses, but after driving by and estimating an hour or more wait, we settled for Villabella Cafe'. The food was delicious and we had our own private Valentine's dinner for the three us. Ever the romantic, Aaron pulled out flowers for both Em and I this morning. A white rose for me and purple irises for Em. After dinner we came home and made sugar cookies and frosted and decorated them. Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Emily has learned her alphabet letters and is trying really hard to spell out words. One night she had put a bunch of letters and numbers in a row and she looked up at Aaron and said, "Can you read?" He said yes and she told him to read her word. He was teasing her as he tried to pronounce it, numbers and all, and said, "I can't read Eminese." She got upset with his pronuciation and said, " You are going to ruin my future!"

Over Christmas break we were on vacation in Sedona, AZ and I got a phone call from Wasatch Woman magazine saying they wanted to publish an article I had sent to them a few weeks prior. I had a Magazine Article Writing class last semester and we were required to write and submit two articles to two different magazines, so needless to say when I got the phone call I was pretty excited! The article is called "Dating Your Significant Other" and it should be in the January/February issue. In conversing back and forth with the Creative Director of the magazine, she found out I'm also studying Photography and since then I have been given a couple of different Photo Shoot assignments that they will use in subsequent issues of the magazine this year. Since I have a background in cosmetology they have assigned me to do a shoot at a hair salon and another at a medical spa. Class was canceled for me for the third time this month because of snow. Aaron made me Belgian waffles for breakfast so I'm hoping they continue canceling school on a regular basis : )I'm afraid my luck will soon run out though, until then I'm just going to enjoy staying home and hanging out with Em and Aaron.
