What a project!

As a Bachelor of Integrated Studies major, I have been working on my Capstone project. What this means is I have to tie my three areas of study (Art, English, and Telecommunications) into one big final project. Since I hope to work for a magazine one day, I have decided to create a magazine spread on women who have overcome obstacles and are now working towards an education to help fulfill their dreams. I am writing the stories of 4 different women, photographing them, and creating a design layout for the spread. I'm really excited for the finished product, but I will be even more excited when it is finished. : ) I am in the process of interviewing the women, and what a rewarding experience it has been! There are some amazing people out there with some very inspiring stories. When I complete this project, I plan on submitting it to a couple of different magazines for publishing considerations.
I met with a beautiful woman today who was in the civil war in Sierra Leone, West Africa as a teenager and experienced some horrific things. She is married, a mother of two adorable children, and about to graduate. She has come a long way and is very remarkable.
While this project seems overwhelming at times, I think it will end up being well worth my efforts. I am putting it together hoping that other women can relate and that it might touch someone as the stories have touched me.

Christmas in Germany

Christmas 2016 Bernkastel-Kues Christmas morning Our Christmas was a little different this year, or I guess a lot different because of being in a different country and far away from the family and friends we love. We celebrated about a week and a half early because Emily went to spend Christmas with her other family and Aaron had to work on Christmas. Emily left the day after the girls' last day of school, so when they came home from school we opened presents from each other and then by popular vote spent the rest of the night eating pizza and bowling at the bowling alley on base. The next day we woke up early to deliver Em to the airport. We were able to hit a couple of Christmas Markets in the beginning weeks of December with her and then we did a couple after she left. We thought it was kind of fun how each Christmas Market has their own mug that you can collect, so the collecting motivated Aaron a little more to hit multiple markets rather than to just stay ho...

6 Week Flu

SYMPTONS: FREQUENT VOMITING, EXCESSIVE FATIGUE, NAUSEA, LACK OF MOTIVATION SIDE EFFECTS: HOUSE TURNS INTO A PIG PEN, FAMILY MEMBERS WEAR DIRTY UNDERWEAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS, MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY ARE ACCUSED OF HAVING EATING DISORDERS FROM MALNUTRITION, YOUR BED & COUCH HAVE A PERMANENT INDENT, AND THE CARPET FROM HERE TO THE BATHROOM HAVE A WELL WORN PATH, PEOPLE THINK YOU HAVE FALLEN OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH My friend recently told me there's a chance she "might" be pregnant. When I asked what might meant, she told me it could just be the flu. I laughed at her until I started experiencing the same symptoms. Even after a positive pregnancy test I worried that it might be all in my head. Thank heavens for a trip to the doctor, he confirmed that: WE ARE HAVING BABY NUMBER 2 !!!!!! I apologize to any of you who have asked recently when we are having more kids or why I am sick, and I didn't give you a straight answer . . . well now you know!
