Who'd of thunk it?

Emily has a chore chart that we mark everyday when she does her chores and then she gets paid at the end of each week for what she's done. One morning I was making my bed and she came in and asked if I was going to put a mark on my chore chart. I told her I didn't have one and that nobody paid me to do chores and she replied, "Uh-huh, remember that penny I gave you on Monday? Well that was for your chores." Thanks Em!

I have to admit I was a little worried about being a stay-at-home-mom this summer. I worried about being bored or Emily and I driving each other crazy, but I've been surprised to find that I really enjoy it. Ever since she was born, I've always worked part-time or been in school so I'm proud to say that I'm better at it than I thought I would be! I was talking to my friend Hailey out here who has also been in school while being a Mommy and she said something that's really helped me. Instead of getting down, she said to look at it from the perspective of slowing down and actually getting to enjoy the little moments that you miss when you're trying to do a million things at once. My life has definitely slowed down a lot, but I'm amazed at how busy I can be with just one little one. I was thinking of all the hobbies I could start doing again this summer, but those thoughts are gone now that I realize everyday is about Emily and taking care of her. I wouldn't change anything, I love being with her all the time and the closeness that we have. I feel like I have a best friend by my side all day and I'm constantly entertained by her. I could always use more patience and she's definitely teaching me especially when she asks "why?" about 87 times a day. Aaron is working 10+ hours a day, six days a week so the two of us have a lot of time together, but we find fun things to do together. We've loved going to the library here (I get to read something besides text books!), the playground, riding our bikes, cooking, going shopping, giving each other foot massages, swimming, and to the zoo. Here's a look at what we've been doing:
Running through the sprinklers
At the Memphis Zoo near the panda exhibit
With friends Molly and Hailey by the elephants
Emily by the alligators (she had to make sure they couldn't get out)
Helping mom make peanut butter cookies

I've been home with my kids for over a year now and am still amazed at how busy things are. It's the toughest job I've ever had, but one that I wouldn't give up for anything. So glad to hear that you guys are doing well in TN. Take care!
Holy cow emily is getting so big now!!! Happy birthday aaron. Looks like you are having some fun out there. gentry

Christmas in Germany

Christmas 2016 Bernkastel-Kues Christmas morning Our Christmas was a little different this year, or I guess a lot different because of being in a different country and far away from the family and friends we love. We celebrated about a week and a half early because Emily went to spend Christmas with her other family and Aaron had to work on Christmas. Emily left the day after the girls' last day of school, so when they came home from school we opened presents from each other and then by popular vote spent the rest of the night eating pizza and bowling at the bowling alley on base. The next day we woke up early to deliver Em to the airport. We were able to hit a couple of Christmas Markets in the beginning weeks of December with her and then we did a couple after she left. We thought it was kind of fun how each Christmas Market has their own mug that you can collect, so the collecting motivated Aaron a little more to hit multiple markets rather than to just stay ho...

6 Week Flu

SYMPTONS: FREQUENT VOMITING, EXCESSIVE FATIGUE, NAUSEA, LACK OF MOTIVATION SIDE EFFECTS: HOUSE TURNS INTO A PIG PEN, FAMILY MEMBERS WEAR DIRTY UNDERWEAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS, MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY ARE ACCUSED OF HAVING EATING DISORDERS FROM MALNUTRITION, YOUR BED & COUCH HAVE A PERMANENT INDENT, AND THE CARPET FROM HERE TO THE BATHROOM HAVE A WELL WORN PATH, PEOPLE THINK YOU HAVE FALLEN OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH My friend recently told me there's a chance she "might" be pregnant. When I asked what might meant, she told me it could just be the flu. I laughed at her until I started experiencing the same symptoms. Even after a positive pregnancy test I worried that it might be all in my head. Thank heavens for a trip to the doctor, he confirmed that: WE ARE HAVING BABY NUMBER 2 !!!!!! I apologize to any of you who have asked recently when we are having more kids or why I am sick, and I didn't give you a straight answer . . . well now you know!
